tachimochi 太刀持ち
The sword-bearer in a yokozuna's ring-entering ceremony.
The tachimochi carries a sword in a yokozuna's ring-entering ceremony. He's one of two top-division wrestlers who accompany the yokozuna, and the other is the dew-sweeper, the tsuyuharai. The yokozuna's ceremonial aprons come as a matching set of three, so both attendants match him.
We haven't yet checked this kanji against the Japan Sumo Association's own pages.
