dohyō-iri 土俵入り
The ring-entering ceremony before the top-division bouts.
The dohyō-iri is the ring-entering ceremony. Just before the top-division bouts, the wrestlers from one side file in, lowest-ranked first, wearing their embroidered ceremonial aprons. They go through a short ritual on the ring and leave, and then the other side does the same. Each yokozuna then performs a ceremony of his own.
