What makushita means
Makushita is the third division, with 120 wrestlers, and the highest division that isn't paid a salary. Its wrestlers fight seven bouts a tournament. A perfect 7-0 from makushita 15 or higher makes a wrestler eligible for promotion to jūryō, though it isn't guaranteed.
