Sandanme is the fourth division. It's been fixed at 160 wrestlers since January 2025, after shrinking from 200 in two steps. Like every division below jūryō, it fights seven bouts a tournament.

makushita
The third division, and the highest one that isn't salaried.
jonidan
The fifth division. Its size isn't fixed.
