Reading the site
You don't need an account to read anything on Banzuke, and reading it sets no cookies. There are no ads or advertising trackers.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It runs a small script in your browser and doesn't use cookies.
Cloudflare runs the site, so it sees your IP address when you visit. If something goes wrong while you're on the site, we log the error so we can fix it. The log can include the page's address and details of your request, such as your IP address.
If you make an account
You need an account to play Predict the Banzuke. For each account we keep:
- Your email address, so you can sign in again. If you sign in with Google, we keep Google's ID for you, and the address too when Google vouches for it.
- When you joined, and the last day you visited.
- A public name the site makes up, such as SteadyYorikiri274, which you can swap for another. It's the only name other fans see. They never see your email address or Google's ID for you.
- Your Predict the Banzuke entries. Once a banzuke is out, the results table shows your score under your public name if you finish in the top 100.
- A cookie that keeps you signed in on a device for up to 90 days. We keep a matching record, so signing out ends it.
We use these to sign you in and to keep your entries and results. None of it is sold or used for advertising.
Signing in
When someone asks for a sign-in link, we keep the address it went to and the page it brings you back to. These links are the site's only automatic emails. We don't send newsletters or marketing.
The email form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you're a person. Turnstile runs in your browser and collects what Cloudflare needs to tell people from bots, under Cloudflare's own privacy terms for Turnstile. The site also sends Cloudflare your IP address to confirm the check. To stop floods, Cloudflare counts sign-in requests from each IP address for a minute.
During Google sign-in, a cookie ties Google's answer to your browser for ten minutes. Google tells us your email address, whether Google has checked it, and Google's ID for you. We don't ask Google for anything else. Google will also know you signed in to Banzuke.
The corrections form
If you send a correction from the About page, we keep your message and when you sent it. If you add your email, we use it only to reply to that message, and we don't share it.
Who else handles it
Cloudflare runs the site and holds its database. It also sends the sign-in emails, and passes email sent to privacy@banzuke.com.au on to C4 Studios' Microsoft 365 inbox. We reply from that inbox, including to corrections. Google is only involved if you sign in with Google.
Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft are all based in the United States. The database is kept in Cloudflare's Asia-Pacific region, outside Australia, and in November 2026 it ran in Tokyo. Your information may also be handled in the United States and other countries.
How long it's kept
A sign-in link is deleted within two days. A sign-in cookie lasts 90 days, or until you sign out on that device.
Your account and everything saved with it stay until you delete the account. Then they're gone from the site at once.
Error logs are deleted within 7 days. Corrections, and any email sent with one, are kept as a record of what was reported.
Emails you send us, and our replies, are kept in C4 Studios' inbox.
Anything deleted from the database stays in its backups for up to 30 days.
Seeing or deleting what we hold
Your account page shows the email address we hold for you. You can swap your public name there, or delete your account and everything saved with it.
For anything else, including a request to see or correct what we hold about you, email privacy@banzuke.com.au. We'll reply within 30 days.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your information, email privacy@banzuke.com.au first, and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
