Maegashira are the rank-and-file of the top division. They're numbered from 1 downward, with an East and a West at each number, and maegashira 1 East is the highest of them. The November 2026 banzuke ran down to maegashira 17. A maegashira who beats a yokozuna earns a kinboshi.
