The hot-pot stew wrestlers eat in the stable.

Chankonabe is the hot-pot stew wrestlers eat in the stable. They usually eat twice a day, and the first meal, after morning practice, is almost always chanko: meat and fish cooked in a pot with vegetables, eaten with big bowls of rice. Junior wrestlers take turns doing the shopping and cooking. Opening a chanko restaurant is a popular next step after retiring.
